Program Description

The Acting for Stage, Film and Television program at The New York Performing Arts Academy provides comprehensive training for actors of all levels. Taught by experienced industry professionals, the program covers a range of techniques and approaches for stage, film and television acting.

Students will develop concentration and train themselves to be responsive and expressive within imaginary circumstances, resulting in a skilled, authentic actor with an organic, spontaneous and disciplined instrument. From script analysis and character development to audition preparation, the program offers a supportive and collaborative learning environment for students to grow and develop their craft.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned actor, the Acting for Stage, Film and Television program at The New York Performing Arts Academy provides a rigorous and rewarding training experience that will help you take your acting to the next level.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROGRAM:

For the first day of class, please bring a memorized monologue of your choice, something you’re excited to work on.

If you need assistance finding a monologue, a list of sites we recommend will be provided upon registration.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Karina Arroyave

Karina Arroyave is a Colombian-American actress and acting teacher. She is best known for her roles in films such as “Lean on Me”, “The River Wild”, and “Crash”, for which she received critical acclaim.

Arroyave has also appeared in numerous television series, including “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, “The Sopranos”, and “Chicago P.D. and currently plays the role of Mierce Xiu on “The Blacklist”. In addition to her work on screen, Arroyave is a highly regarded acting teacher, with over a decade of experience training actors.

With a focus on helping actors find their voice and develop their craft, Arroyave’s teaching approach emphasizes emotional truth and authenticity in performance. Her students have gone on to successful careers in film, television, and theater, and praise her for her supportive and nurturing teaching style.

As an actress and teacher, Karina Arroyave is a respected and influential figure in the entertainment industry, and continues to inspire and empower actors with her passion for the craft.
