It turns out some things that never change eventually do change.
After 24 years on the Bravo network, “Inside the Actors Studio” has found a new home.
New episodes of the iconic interview series about the art of acting will begin airing on the Ovation channel in the fall of 2019.
Series creator and longtime host James Lipton — now 92 — will turn over the microphone to an assortment of yet-to-be-named guest hosts for the new shows.
“It’s very gratifying to see the legacy of Inside The Actors Studio being carried forward for a new generation to appreciate and enjoy,” Lipton said in a statement. “I’m excited to see the new hosts engage with the guests and students and continue to entertain viewers in the US and around the world.”
Co-producers Ovation and the Actors Studio will also mine the series’ extensive library to assemble special episodes.
In a statement, Actors Studio Co-president Ellen Burstyn praised the series’ “profound impact” on the organization’s MFA program at Pace University, adding, “I know my co-presidents, Alec Baldwin and Al Pacino, and our board of directors share my enthusiasm that Ovation has come on board to continue this enduring legacy.”
“Inside the Actors Studio” will continue to be taped at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University’s New York City campus. Its most recent new episode aired on Bravo in January.
