Appeals Court Throws Out ‘Making a Murderer’ Confession

An appellate panel on Thursday upheld a lower court’s ruling awarding a new trial to Brendan Dassey, the teenage murder convict made famous by the Netflix documentary “Making a Murderer.” In a 2-1 ruling, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals panel held that Dassey’s confession was coerced.
